Fluorescent lightbulb recycling
The Health Dept. along with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) is sponsoring a Compact Fluorescent Lightbulb (CFL) recycling program. The CFL recycling program was designed to help ensure the environmentally safe recycling of these bulbs and to remove this potential mercury contamination from the waste stream. CFL bulbs can be dropped off at the Buffalo Grove Village Hall 50 Raupp Blvd. Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any questions can be directed to the Health Department at 847-459-2530. It is recommended that you place the bulbs in a plastic bag ziploc bag in case of breakage.
They will also take the 4 ft. fluorescent bulbs, just be extra careful with these.
